10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (April 6)
Was Vince McMahon on a one-man mission to p*ss off CM Punk?
When Kurt Angle beamed proudly during his WWE return last year, it was impossible to imagine his first WrestleMania match back in the company could be overshadowed, but it has been. Ronda Rousey's involvement, and her feud with Stephanie McMahon, is the top talking point of 'Mania 34's mixed tag.
It's well known that The Rock was WWE's first choice to team with Ronda. According to Dave Meltzer, though, poor Kurt wasn't even in second place when the match was put together. Find out who was in this week's article.
We also take a look at Carmella's landmark achievement, how one of the most iconic entrance themes in history was put together, what Vince McMahon originally had in mind for the CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho match at WrestleMania XXVIII, and which current tag team Paul Heyman can't get enough of. On top of that, there's a cool story about André The Giant's heel run from the 80s.
Had one of Bruce Prichard's pitches gone through, the big man might not have been Hulk Hogan's enemy for long...
10. Carmella Broke A WWE Record On Wednesday
If someone online typed out "Carmella > Edge", several older fans would be reaching for their baseball bats and threatening war.
Whilst Carmella has a seriously long way to go before she's had even half the career of Edge, she is now the longest-reigning MITB briefcase holder in history. On Wednesday, she beat the Canadian's former record of 280 days by notching 281, and she now sits alone at the top.
As is standard practice, Carmella has teased cashing in a few times since winning the case last Summer, and it now looks like WWE are happy to wait until after WrestleMania to do it properly; or, maybe they'll toy with fan emotions, have Asuka beat Charlotte Flair at 'Mania and then have Carmella trade MITB for the SmackDown Women's Title.
Playing devil's advocate here, don't worry. The more likely outcome is that Carmella stretches her record to 300 days plus before finally cashing in.
