10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Jan 19)
7. Sid Vicious Didn't Take Time Off From Wrestling To Play Softball
As ridiculous a sub-heading as that is, there have been rumours for years that Sid Vicious/Sycho Sid used to take time off from both WCW and the WWF to play some softball. This would suggest that wrestling was a part-time gig for the big man, and that he much preferred playing catch to playing pro wrestler.
Sid told Hannibal TV this week that the rumours are false and that he only played in between stints or when he had some down time. Elaborating, he said that jealous co-workers used his passion for softball against him. He even named Jerry Lawler as one of the perpetrators, saying the King wasn't fond of him from the get-go.
The whole idea of grown men arguing over softball seems rather ludicrous. Sid claims he only played softball extensively during his wrestling career twice. Once when he was asked to put on some weight by WCW management and another time when he took 3-4 months off after leaving the WWF.
