6. Tito Santana Still Feels WrestleMania I Should Have Been Different
Tito Santana was entrusted by the then-WWF to open the first ever WrestleMania card. Facing The Executioner, Santana won the match handily in less than 5 minutes. It was hardly going to be considered the best bout ever in 'Mania history, but it does go down in event folklore because it was the very first contest. That wasn't enough for Santana, who felt slighted by his positioning on the card. Telling the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast all about his thoughts, Tito said he was disappointed when he learned what he'd be doing on the WWF's biggest ever show. At the time, Santana was engaged in a lengthy feud over the Intercontinental Title with Greg Valentine. In Tito's mind, that's the match which should have been a certainty for him at WrestleMania. The pair had been main eventing house shows, drawing good houses and working great matches. Santana was placated when Vince McMahon told him why he'd been chosen to open 'Mania, because the boss knew he could get the fans on their feet.
