4. Kurt Angle Always Preferred Playing Heel Over Babyface
It's been said that working as a heel in pro wrestling is a lot more fun than trying to get over as a babyface. In the modern era, currying favour with fans as a good guy can be a thankless task, because people seem to find villains a lot cooler than their heroic counterparts. That's something Kurt Angle picked up on immediately. Intriguingly, Angle told during a recent chat with Digital Spy that he never really wanted to play babyface. In Kurt's words, he worked incredibly hard to stay firmly on the bad side of the alignment fence, even though some fans wanted to cheer him. During his first run in the WWF, Angle developed a character who was very unlikeable. Eventually, it was only natural that he'd turn babyface. Angle was so entertaining in his heel role - and so good inside the ring - that fans started to root for him. This was something the Olympic Gold Medal winner tried to discourage, because he much preferred being heel than babyface.
