10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (June 24)

10. Goldberg Will Always Regret Never Facing Steve Austin

In a relatively short time, Bill Goldberg achieved an awful lot in the pro wrestling industry. Bursting onto the scene in 1997, he quickly climbed the WCW ladder, eventually bagging the WCW World Title the very next Summer. In less than a year, Goldberg was one of the promotion's marquee names.

During that hot run, Goldberg was regularly compared to another bald-headed, goatee-sporting grappler over in the WWF. Steve Austin was similarly on top of his game, and many fans wondered what it'd be like to see the pair lock horns. Even when Goldberg joined WWE in 2003, the match would never happen.

Speaking to Steve Austin for his podcast, Goldberg stated that this is something he will always have regrets over. The timing was terrible for Austin, who had retired from in-ring action following WrestleMania XIX. Ironically, shortly after that pay-per-view was when Goldberg entered the company.

It's clear that the former WCW man believes his career was missing something because he never got to work with Stone Cold. Both men are good friends to this day, but the match is one lost to the sands of time.
