It probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise that this year's WrestleMania supershow didn't perform quite as well as previous 'Mania cards had on Pay-Per-View. The WWE Network has largely changed the way fans tune into WWE programming, aside from the main TV shows like Monday Night Raw and Smackdown. Last year's event, WrestleMania XXX pulled 690,000 buys on Pay-Per-View, a respectable number, but a lot of fans had already decided that the best way to watch the event was via the WWE's very own subscription model. This year, 'Mania 31 pulled in 259,000 buys, which is obviously a much smaller number, approximately one third of the 2014 figure. Unlike previous years, the number is unlikely to come in for intense scrutiny, mainly because people realise that the game has changed, and it was WWE that changed it. This number takes into account those ordering via the more traditional pay-to-watch scheme, rather than electing to sign up for the WWE Network, but it'll be intriguing to see what next year's buyrate throws up.
