10. Steve Austin Felt Simon Gotch Was Reckless With Enzo Amore Injury
It didn't take everyone long to realise that Enzo Amore was seriously hurt at Payback. Hurled into the ropes by Simon Gotch during a seemingly innocuous spot, the charismatic grappler suffered a nasty collision with one of the ring ropes and tumbled to the arena floor.
The referee, announcers, fans and his peers quickly recognised the severity of the situation.
Exiting the ring, Gotch attempted to pick Amore up, before realising what had happened. Speaking on his own podcast, Steve Austin remarked that this was the wrong thing to do in those circumstances. In Austin's mind, Gotch was at fault for the injury, because he failed to take care of his co-worker.
There wasn't enough distance for Enzo to react to the proximity of the ropes when he was thrown with some force by the Vaudevillains member. Austin also stated his belief that Gotch should have eased up on the power, because he didn't do Amore any favours.
After his head smacked against one of the ropes, Enzo also hit his cranium on the floor at ringside, suffering a concussion.
