9. Former WWE Referee Had A Nightmare After Initial Survivor Series
The very first Survivor Series took place in 1987. The card was a rip-roaring success for Vince McMahon's company, and attracted over 20,000 fans into the Richfield Coliseum. The entire show was built around the ongoing feud between Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant, and both men captained opposite teams in the main event. One of the referees for that evening's action was Jimmy Korderas, who worked for the WWF/WWE right up until 2009. Korderas was only booked to referee one show that entire week, and was delighted that it was the first ever Survivor Series. Living in Toronto, he made the 5-hour drive to Richfield, Ohio without incident. As the outside official for the main event, he experienced the thrill of entering the ring when things got too much for Joey Marella to cope with. After the show, Korderas had an absolute nightmare. His car had broken down before the show, so he borrowed his mother's vehicle. Her car wasn't the best for making lengthy journeys and continually broke down on his way home. Leaving at 9am the morning after Survivor Series, the referee didn't make it home until after 9pm. By that point, the WWF had already taped another show in a different city!
