8. Michael Cole

Michael Cole’s turn from commentator to on-screen heel was organic. As he amped up his support for the company’s heels, he transformed from a mild irritant to a hate figure.

It was as the official spokesman for Raw’s Anonymous GM that Cole began drawing serious heat from fans, pompously dubbing himself the "Voice of WWE” and his non-existent fans as “Cole Miners”.

Cole’s gutlessness emerged when he was challenged on his arrogance by fellow commentator Jerry Lawler. After costing Lawler a match against Miz, Cole was protected from violence by stipulations set by the Anonymous GM.

When Cole mocked his mother’s death, Lawler challenged him to a match. Cole responded by throwing water in Lawler’s face and fleeing. Cole agreed to a match at WrestleMania XXVII. However, he insisted Jack Swagger, his trainer, was at ringside. During the run-up to the match, Cole had the unique weasel move of providing commentary concealed inside a Perspex box (the Cole Mine).

Cole won the match due to the Anonymous GM disqualifying Lawler. However, his heel run prematurely wrapped up, with him soon being subjected to a barrage of humiliation and sent back to commentary.
