10 Wrestling-Inspired Movies That Would Be Better Ideas Than 'Crossface'

9. The Von Erich Family

One of the wrestling industry's most famous families, the tragedy that has befallen the Von Erichs is almost Shakespearean in its scope, so much so that many have deemed the family to be cursed. Patriarch Fritz was one of the biggest stars of his era an fathered six sons between 1952 and 1969. By the time of his death in 1997, he had outlived all but one of them.

Firstborn Jack died of an accidental electrocution at the age of just seven, with the five remaining brothers all going into the wrestling business. David's sudden death on an overseas tour of Japan in 1984 (the cause of which varies depending on who you believe) seemed to set his brothers on a downward spiral from which they would never recover. 23 year-old Mike, 21 year-old Chris and 33 year-old Kerry all committed suicide between 1987 and 1993, the latter two via gunshot. Second-oldest brother Kevin escaped the so-called 'Von Erich Curse' and retired from the business in 1995, and was able to induct his family into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

Tackling the story of the Von Erichs would require a great deal of sensitivity, given the horrific events that the family endured on a regular basis. Divorces, drug and alcohol abuse, vehicular accidents and suicides would hardly make for an easy watch, but if handled correctly the fascinatingly tragic story of the Von Erich family would make for an engrossing and powerful drama.
