10 Wrestling Matches Neither Wrestler Could Afford To Lose

6. Tazz vs. Triple H (20 April 2000 - WWF SmackDown)

Some WWE lifers (like Bruce Prichard) would argue until they're blue in the face that Tazz losing to Triple H on the 20 April 2000 episode of SmackDown didn't hurt the ECW incomer. Hmm. It did a bit, at least in the eyes of those who had followed his career.

That's not to say it wasn't the WWF's right to put their guy over, but it definitely harmed Tazz's aura. He was only three months on from his cracking debut at Royal Rumble against Kurt Angle, but he was already being portrayed as inferior to the promotion's biggest names.

Survive if they let you, it seems.

By the same token, it would've been disastrous for Trips to lose as well. 2000 was one of his best years ever, and it's easy to forget he was a super-worker by April that year. He was also WWF Champion, and about to lock horns with The Rock at Backlash.
