10 Wrestling Moments That Broke The Internet
2. Sunny For Days
In 1998, America Online named Sunny the most downloaded woman across the entire Internet - which, given that she was nowhere near the most famous, speaks more to the mindset of the wrestling fandom, than anything else.
Still, one cannot begrudge her popularity at the time, even though, in 2018, she is rather less likeable. She recently criticised Candice LaRae for being "too ugly" to ever make "the big show," failing to both not be awful and to grasp the NXT system outright. Ricochet didn't get sent there to work on his flips, for Christ's sake. Still, back in her mid-'90s pomp, Sunny was an effervescent feature of WWF programming, who drew fans not just on the basis of her, erm, downloadables. She got wrestling, and was passionate about wrestling, and was thus as adept at generating enthusiasm on behalf of the teams she managed, as well as catcalls for herself.
She was a very popular babyface for her time, impersonating with some realism a nice human being. We know definitively now that she isn't, which is a testament to her credentials as a worker.
