10 Wrestling Moves In The MCU
"V-TRIGGERRRRR!!"
It's often said that wrestlers are the closest thing to real-life superheroes, and there's definitely some truth there.
If a superhero is someone who can do amazing things with their body that you could never dream of without some broken bones, a damaged ego and your parent's embarrassment, then yeah, wrestlers really are real-world heroes.
The wrestling industry has taken plenty of inspiration from comic-books. Just look at, The Hurricane, Nikki A.S.H, Blue Blazer, Tiger Mask and even *ahem* Arachnaman. There are enough superhero wrestlers to form a whole Avengers ensemble. But this inspiration isn't a one-way street.
Marvel has had no issue borrowing from the pool of the wrestling industry, even lifting veterans like Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Triple H (Blade: Trinity) and Randy Savage (Spider-Man) into their flicks. But, it goes further than just acting, as there have been plenty of times when heroes (and villains) have shown off some moves of their own.
When fighting your enemies, it's best to use a wide array of attacks, and these following ones have looked awfully familiar to wrestling fans - even if it was incidental.
10. Thanos Dominates The Hulk With An Overhead Press Slam (Avengers: Infinity War)
The purpose of an overhead move is to get the performer over as a monster. That goes double (or hell, even quadruple) when the person you're carrying is a giant green Hulk. That's where Thanos comes in.
Avengers: Infinity War kicked off to a dramatic start as The Mad Titan delivered a dream match by taking on the legendary green hero. However, things quickly took a turn for the worst, as Thanos dismantled Banner in what can only be described as a squash match - the kind that would make even Brock Lesnar jealous.
As if pummelling the big guy with punches wasn't enough, Thanos decided to end the fight by hoisting The Hulk up into an overhead press and slamming him into the ground. If you want to sell your main baddie (or heel, if you will) as a terrifying force, then that's the way to do it.
