10 Wrestling Returns We Marked Out For
3. Shane McMahon
It’s hard to imagine now, but there was a time not too long ago where fans really, really wanted Shane McMahon to appear on WWE TV.
In his absence, we had grown sick and tired of his sister Stephanie, her father and her husband being at the center of the WWE universe. We thought that if a McMahon had to be on TV, then why couldn’t it have been the one we liked?
Shane left the wrestling business in 2009, when it became apparent that the company wasn’t going to be handed down to him. Still, we kept expecting him to show up at some point, but it never happened. Finally, on 22 Feb. 2016, here came the money. When his music hit, the crowd absolutely went nuts. Even after a few minutes, they wouldn’t settle down. Shane looked genuinely touched as he was fighting back tears. Even though he had been over-pushed in the past, it was still pretty damn cool to see him come back as it was beginning to seem like he never would.
To spice up (and basically save) WrestleMania, Shane was given a big match against The Undertaker. While in the past we would have rolled our eyes at the thought, most fans bought into it as they just wanted to see Shane O’ Mac one more time in a ring.
