Few storylines epitomise Vince McMahon's obsession with shoehorning his family into almost every major WWE angle quite like The Higher Power, which stands as one of the Attitude Era's least satisfying storyline conclusions.

WWE programming was dominated by a power struggle between The Undertaker's Ministry Of Darkness and Vince's Corporation at the time, with Steve Austin and The Rock caught in the middle. The story's main body saw 'Taker attempting to wrest control from the McMahons by constantly tormenting them, resulting in Vince's removal from power, and Shane assuming his role as the Corporation's leader.

The two stables eventually merged to form the Corporate Ministry, with 'The Deadman' continually referring to a "higher power" throughout. This mysterious individual was the group's driving force, and the only one they answered to. He or she was the most powerful person in wrestling, and if handled correctly, the reveal could've been huge.

Guess what, though? It wasn't handled correctly.

In one of the dumbest swerves in WWE history, Vince McMahon was revealed as the man pulling the strings. He'd done it not only to dupe the fanbase, but to get one over on Austin in their longstanding rivalry, and it went over predictably poorly.
