The movie adaptation of American Psycho follows the story of Patrick Bateman, an immaculately dressed businessman who lives an alternate life as a serial killer. Excellently portrayed by Christian Bale, Bateman is at odds with himself, but seems to get a real kick out of the power that comes with taking someone's life and dominating another person's existence. On the surface, this doesn't really seem like the kind of thing a wrestling promotion would want to go near, especially considering the various gruesome deaths in the film, but TNA deemed it perfect for one of their newest sensations, Samuel Shaw in 2013. Obviously, Shaw didn't kill anyone on-screen, but he did stalk the living daylights out of Christy Hemme, creating a shrine for her and becoming infatuated with her very existence. Repeatedly creeping the woman out by using many of Bale's nuances during his performance as Bateman, Shaw was revealed to have a tribute of sorts to Hemme in his own home. This room filled with posters and a mannequin he pretended to be Christy. It was all quite heavy for a wrestling program, and whilst it was a nifty idea, executing it (pun intended) in a tasteful manner seemed impossible. Still, at least Shaw had good taste in movies!
