10 WWE Babyfaces You Forget Were Awesome Heels

2. The Rock

Anyone that saw Monday night's Raw can tell you just how popular The Rock is. No-one expected his music to hit during a Rusev segment, but when he did the arena erupted. There are few wrestlers today as popular in and out of pro wrestling as Dwayne Johnson. That wasn't always the case. When he debuted as the babyface Rocky Johnson, he was reviled by the nineties fans who were used to something a bit more edgy. He eventually used this hatred to turn heel, take the name The Rock and join The Nation of Domination. It was there he really cut his teeth and learned how to hold the crowd in the palm of his hand, so it was natural he would eventually turn babyface. It wouldn't last too long though, because he eventually turned heel by joining with the McMahon family (that seems to be a theme) and became The Corporate Champion. Even when he returns, many fans see him as a heel. A part-timer who exists only to promote movies and sling sexist remarks at widows, and that's why he has such lasting appeal in entertainment. The Rock is all things to all people, all the time.
