Out of a countless array of matches, one particular moment was a favorite for fans: the moment when Kofi Kingston captured his first WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan. For people who have followed the man's journey for the past 11 years, the win made for a wholly satisfying sight.

For years, people thought that Kingston would never reach the World Title picture, yet alone win one. To see it happen in real time was unbelievable and it made a lot of people happy.

It's not the first time the top title has ended up in the hands of a perennial underdog. There are several instances in the history of WWE where someone unpredictable won the WWE Championship.

Sometimes, the winner was someone who audiences always hoped would get the big one, but no one expected it to happen. On other occasions, it was a major point of contention.

And one time, it was Jinder Mahal.

10. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston's win is what inspired this list to begin with. Over the course of 11 years, it seemed like he was bound to enter the main event picture. Sadly, he was always inches away from the big title picture without WWE ever committing to rolling with his ball.

2019 was a miraculous year as he finally reached the promised land. The journey to get here was a fascinating one and above all else, an emotional rollercoaster. When he pinned Daniel Bryan's shoulders to the mat at WrestleMania 35, the crowd erupted.

A day later (as of this writing), it still doesn't seem real, but it is. WWE delivered an emotionally driven masterpiece that gave us the perfect ending that fans desperately wanted. Kofi Kingston is now the first ever African born WWE Champion.
