10 WWE Feuds That Started Over The DUMBEST Things

It's war in WWE if you mispronounce someone's name or break their toys.

Not every WWE feud starts and ends over a championship.

In fact, whilst one of the company's most impressive stories of 2024 definitely began with title aspirations on both sides, it's blossomed into something more than that. It's also probably the only rivalry that'll get a lot of credit here - others either resulted in painful matches or were propped up (no pun intended) by weak material to begin with.

Not every narrative can be as layered and nuanced as The Bloodline, put it that way. At times, it's almost like creative wanted to shove two workers together for a series of matches then suddenly realised they'd need to frame it somehow. 'Quick! Somebody come up with a background reason for these guys to fight!'.

Wrestler A steals something belonging to Wrestler B is a popular trope, but there's even varying success in that. Here, you'll giggle along to the lighter side of wrestling pre-planning and hear all about the most flimsy excuses for working on pay-per-view.

Finally, don't ever build a shrine for your toys, and always think real carefully when mapping out those party invites!

10. Jean-Pierre Lafitte Nabs Bret Hart’s Jacket

Check that no good rascal above!

He's responsible for a true classic when it comes to dumb WWF/WWE feuds. Nasty, thieving and foul pirate Jean-Pierre Lafitte stole Bret Hart's favourite leather jacket in 1995, and he wouldn't give it back. If Bret wanted to see his prized possession again, then he'd have to beat Jean-Pierre in a standard wrestling matches with rules.

OK, this writer is making light of the whole situation, but it'd be impossible not to. '95 gets a lot of flak from wrestling fans looking back. Rightly so, in some cases, but there's something so simple and endearing about the thought of Hart getting all wound up about a jacket. Being fair, he explained that it held sentimental value in promos.

Bret and Lafitte went on to work some fun matches against one another. Whilst they definitely gelled in-ring, fans just couldn't get over the purpose of their feud. It was difficult to care much about Hart's entrance attire - excellently-adorned shoulder pads or not.
