They say everything has been done before. All the great ideas have already been taken. It doesn't matter if it's a book, film or even in professional wrestling. Whatever is presented has already been seen. Ok, even if that's true, does that really justify a direct rip-off when creating a new character? Thousands of wrestlers have competed in the major leagues over the decades. You would have to expect a few gimmicks to be similar. While a few have been questionable in their originality, some have been some downright rip-offs. Even the biggest wrestling company on the planet isn't immune to taking someone else's idea. Sometimes, copying a gimmick can actually lead to success. More often, though, fans see right through it, and only wish they had the original instead.
