In the 1980s Hogan and Flair were the two biggest stars in the entire wrestling world. One was the big name in WWF, the other in WCW and the entire rest of the world. When the latter finally joined the WWF in 1991 everyone assumed it was so they could finally deliver the Hogan/Flair WrestleMania main event everyone had been fantasy booking for years.

From his very debut, Flair even went after Hogan with his promos and his actions, signalling a build to the match that would take the better part of a year.
