2. The Miz (2010) & Owen Hart (1994)

These two WWE superstars weren't supposed to last when they first debuted on WWE television.

The Blue Blazer, aka Owen Hart, was a glorified jobber to the stars when he entered WWE in late 1988, and The Miz was a reality TV star whom no one took seriously when he debuted as a host of various segments, including the dreaded Diva Search, in 2006.

Fast forward half a decade and not only did both these wrestlers survive in WWE, they made it to the main event.

Unfortunately, their headlining status could not be sustained and both Owen and Miz found themselves back in the mid-card just a couple years removed from their career-making victories. The tournament and ladder match wins launched them into the main event, but it couldn't keep them there.

In addition to their inability to stay on top, Owen and The Miz both captured their first Intercontinental Championship after appearing in the main event. While these two defied the odds for a period of time, Owen and Miz ascended to the top of the WWE ranks thanks to the crown and briefcase before sliding back down to the mid-card.
