Having experienced a taste of the main event in 1997, Shamrock became King Of The Ring in 1998 and many thought he was well on his way to WWE superstardom. Although Shamrock did headline a hot September RAW against Steve Austin in the Fall of 1998, Ken's peak came at the June '98 tournament and his career never amounted to the heights that were once thought likely.

Not dissimilar is Mr. Kennedy. At one point, Kennedy was considered a surefire headliner for years to come in WWE. He won the Money In The Bank contract at WrestleMania 23, but due to what would later become a misdiagnosed injury to his triceps, Kennedy dropped never cashed it in. This would come to be a microcosm of his career, failing to capitalise on his WWE opportunities.

Both Kens had their brushes with the main event and were thought to be great selections for their respective victories, but neither could turn them into the career-making moments they had hoped for.
