Jericho and AJ Styles had a very good match, and my fiancée was impressed at the level of athleticism on show. In particular, she was impressed with Styles. She was bowled over by his finishing move, it was the only spot all night that really made her react as if someone could have been hurt. She commented how dangerous it looked, after Styles put Jericho away with the manoeuvre.
From her reactions to that match, it just goes to show that even the mainstream casual fans can appreciate that style of wrestling. It isn't exclusive to the IWC or smarks, it can get over with everyone.
That's something for WWE to think about. Good matches equals interest and engagement in the product. It works for both committed fans and first time viewers, so why not do more proper contests?
