10 WWE Opponents That Shawn Michaels Refused To Do Business With

By Andrew Pollard /

3. Davey Boy Smith

Poor Davey. If anyone ever got the short straw against Shawn Michaels, it was always, always, always the British Bulldog. To put into perspective how much of a thorn in his side HBK was, Bulldog lost the 1995 Royal Rumble to Shawn and also failed to take the WWF Title from the Heartbreak Kid on several occasions, not to mention he lost the Intercontinental Title, WWF Tag Team Title and the European Title all to Michaels at various points in time. The biggest controversy, though, firmly surrounds the aforementioned European Title loss. Having been crowned the first European Champion, Bulldog€™s 7-month reign came to an end against Shawn at 1997€™s One Night Only UK PPV. But it wasn€™t supposed to. The plan, even on the day of the show, was for Davey to retain €“ so much so that he even told his terminally-ill sister that the win was to be dedicated to her. Then came a classic example of Shawn being Shawn, using his stroke to pointlessly win the title before dropping it to bestest pal Triple H in a joke of a match. Some saw this as a shot at Bret Hart, but it was poor Davey Boy who was left embarrassed.
