What You Remember: The WWF could do no wrong in 2000, and they delivered once again with a thumping King Of The Ring card that crowned Kurt Angle, featured the usual 'Attitude' razzmatazz and ended with a popular World Title change.
Oh yes, this was another winner for the fed.
Reality: Only it wasn't.
The bloom had come off the tournament rose long before 2000. KOTR was capable of producing big moments, but this was another example of the promotion's flat approach to tourneys. It didn't help that they booked that Hardcore Title 'Evening Gown' match too. Try watching that around non-fans!
Again, there's a startling lack of essential matches to feast one's eyes on. Even Jim Ross admitted on his 'Grilling JR' podcast that KOTR 2000 was nowhere near as good as he recalled when revisiting it for a quick recap.
