10 WWE Royal Rumble Runners-Up You Totally Forgot About

7. Chris Jericho (2012)

Jericho is pound-for-pound the greatest WWE superstar never to win The Royal Rumble. He came close to breaking his duck at the 2012 event but was eliminated by the eventual winner Sheamus, who would go on to WrestleMania XXVIII and defeat Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds. Jericho and The Celtic Warrior were joined by The Big Show and Randy Orton in the final four. The Apex Predator eliminated Show with one arm before Y2J snuck up behind the former Evolution member and knocked him over the top rope. In a Royal Rumble rarity, the final two faced off for almost eight minutes. The contest went backwards and forwards before Sheamus looked to be about to lose as he was heading, head first, towards the ring apron. After managing to break free, The Great White was slapped three times by the former WWE Undisputed Champion which understandably angered the Irishman. After a missed Brogue Kick attempt, Sheamus caught Jericho as he attempted to hit him with the code breaker, dumping him over the top rope. Y2J hung on for dear life and made his way back onto the apron, only for Sheamus to finally connect with the Brogue Kick and send Jericho to the floor below.
