Kevin Owens must have p*ssed somebody off.

In the backwards fiction of WWE, heels are smarter than their babyface counterparts in service of a stretched episodic TV model that must thinly promise but cannot often deliver comeuppance, lest WWE actually please the audience.

Not so KO.

Since WrestleMania 34, the man has devolved into a complete loser. Sent home from the late '17 European tour for refusing to follow the scripted direction, he was sent to the graveyard on Monday's RAW in a segment that could not have depicted him in a less flattering light. He is a cowardly and stupid heel. He is pitiable. Owens was a complete dumbass ahead of WrestleMania, too, failing to dethrone AJ Styles with a two-on-one advantage and stupidly attacking fellow wrestlers to create a multi-man match at Fastlane. Owens is the guy who does stupid things purely to make other things happen. He is a narrative convenience.

He remains a great performer, somehow wresting some entertainment value from über-awful segments, but the residual resentment over last year's furore becomes more apparent by the week.
