10 WWE Stars That Should Have Won The World Title Sooner

Goldberg’s no stranger to super-fast rises to the top of a wrestling promotion.

In WCW, he’d enjoy a colossal and totally-not-inflated 173-match winning streak off the back of his TV debut—a run that included both United States and World Heavyweight Championship success. And then when he arrived in the WWE, it would take him less than six months to win that familiar World Heavyweight title, when he defeated the champion, Triple H, at Unforgiven 2003.

But as quick as his push to the title was, it should have been slightly quicker. Specifically, it should have arrived four weeks earlier at SummerSlam 2003.

There, Goldberg would compete in the second-ever Elimination Chamber match, against Triple H, Kevin Nash, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton. And despite that Hall of Fame cast of opponents, Goldberg absolute tore through the field.

He eliminated Orton, Michaels and Jericho in little more than three minutes of madness. However, he was to be no match for Triple H and the dreaded Reign of Terror. The Game used a sledgehammer to take out Goldberg, and somehow escape with his title.

Granted, I appreciate this was intended to make his eventual success all the more meaningful, but with the momentum he had, and the performance he put in, SummerSlam was the place that they should have had him win.
