Realising that he could gain the attention of the audience via catchphrases and manipulation, The Rock's insistence that fans don't repeat his infamous lines turned out to be genuine gold. Sure, the people in the stands may have been chanting these phrases, but they were doing so to anger the man in the ring.What made the heat 'cheap' (and it's important to note there's nothing wrong with that) is that The Rock started to actively use this to his advantage, telling fans to shut up and 'know their role'.
