2. Rey Mysterio - 309 Matches

I dare say you can add 'Mr. SmackDown' to the many nicknames of Rey Mysterio.

When the first episode of the show was being taped, Rey was defending the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Kaz Hayashi. When it aired, he was going up against Kanyon (who better?). Rey Rey wouldn't make it over to WWE until summer 2002 but, when he finally did, SmackDown became his home and SmackDown became his house.

His first match on the show as against the man who would become his most familiar opponent, Chavo Guerrero Jr. The two would seemingly feud for years over the Cruiserweight Championship, a belt that was exclusive to SmackDown and a division that Rey anchored until being pushed to the main event.

A key member of the SmackDown Six, Mysterio would put on match after match after superb match against the likes of Chavo, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle and Edge, making SmackDown a truly must-see show.

Rey's WWE career began to wind down in sad fashion as injuries took their toll, and his final SmackDown match came in the build up to WrestleMania XXX in 2014. Funnily enough it also came in a losing effort against the Wyatt Family, although Rey teamed up with Cody Rhodes (137 matches) and Goldust (33 matches).

Rey wrestled on SmackDown a total of 309 times, an impressive number, and perhaps surprising considering the time off he required due to his injuries.
