5. Bret Gets Screwed In Montreal

It€™s not technically an official €œhometown moment€ since Bret Hart comes from Calgary and not Montreal, but at the time the entire country of Canada was considered Bret Hart€™s home, and whenever Bret wrestled at any Canadian arena he got the same hometown treatment, so it€™s safe to say that Bret€™s hometown encompassed all of Canada. Then one fine day, on a little show called Survivor Series 1997, Bret Hart had a WWE Championship match with Shawn Michaels. The details are unnecessary because let€™s face it, everybody who has even had the slightly interest in professional wrestling has heard about the Montreal Screwjob. Instead, just try to imagine how Bret must have felt moments after the screwjob occurred. He was confused, upset, angry, and these feelings manifested themselves into a violent breakdown that showed off Bret€™s ugly side. He smashed television monitors, spit in Vince€™s face, and even wrote the letters WCW in the air with his finger. All this and it was in front of the very people who practically worshipped him. That had to be a humiliating moment not just for Bret, but for all of his fans who were hoping to see Hart at his best that night. Instead, they got his worst.
