3. Shawn Michaels Uses Politics To Humiliate British Bulldog - One Night Only 1997

During a special €œOne Night Only€ pay-per-view event that took place in Birmingham, England, the British Bulldog was set to defend the WWE European Championship against the challenger Shawn Michaels. The English crowd was behind the Manchester native the entire time, and for the most part it was a great match. Unfortunately for the fans across the pond, Michaels was able to beat Bulldog after the champ passed out from a figure four leg lock. Michaels had some assistance in keeping the hold locked in thanks to fellow D-Generation X members Triple H and Chyna. After winning, Michaels got on the mic and proceeded to mock and insult the Hart family and the entire Birmingham crowd. Some of you might be wondering what the heck WWE was thinking in letting Michaels win over Bulldog for the European title in England. The truth was that Michaels used his political power, and his association with Vince at the time, to convince McMahon that he should not only win the match, but also the European Championship. Michaels didn€™t need to win the match as he was gearing up towards becoming WWE Champion, and the only thing the match accomplished was making Bulldog look like a joke in front of his fellow Englishmen.
