This one pains me to write because he's been one of my favorite performers in WWE for the last 15 years. However, the fact is he's become an injury prone wrestler for the last couple of years even though the majority of his career he was one of the most durable guys they had. It's part of life and part of the wrestling business. Christian is going to be 41 years old later this year and has a contract that is set to expire later this year, so it makes sense why he wouldn't be released. What will most likely happen is he'll transition into a role as a backstage agent that helps talent put together matches or perhaps work at the Performance Center in Orlando to help develop the stars of tomorrow. It's nice that WWE respects him enough to not release him, but it's also unlikely that he'll have a significant in-ring role in WWE going forward.
