10 WWE Tag Teams That SURELY Didn't Happen (...But DID!)

10. Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara

From Alberto Del Rio, to Sin Cara, to Kalisto, and now with more present attempts in Dragon Lee and Axiom, trying to 'Jinder Mahal' the Latin fanbase with a “new Rey Mysterio” has been an ongoing pursuit for the WWE for over a decade now. It's worthwhile - the 2005 Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio programme performed excellently in key markets - but Rey's magic is inimitable.

In the early 2010s, after it became increasingly obvious that Del Rio was more effective as an overbearing, entitled heel, WWE revived their attempts to get their machine back behind Sin Cara, who had just finished off his feud with his own Brian Harris: Sin Cara Negro, AKA Hunico.

Banding together to fend off the mask-hating Cody Rhodes, Mysterio and Cara paired up for about six months, starting from July 2012. They soon coordinated cute little half-and-half masks and entered a Tag Team Championship #1 Contender Tournament, losing to The Rhodes Scholars in the finals. The rest of their time together was spent feuding with The Prime Time Players and Team Hell No, before a slightly tumultuous 2013 for the pair saw Cara eventually leave WWE, ending the partnership for good.
