10 WWE Tag Teams Vince McMahon Actually Loved
10. The New Age Outlaws
“Oh, You Didn’t Know?” WWE's tag team division wasn't at its strongest during 1997. The title picture was dominated by the pig farming Godwins and an ageing Legion of Doom.
Enter The New Age Outlaws - a team created to give a then-feuding ‘Rockabilly’ Billy Gunn and ‘Double J’ Jesse James something meaningful to do.
The rechristened duo of ’Badd Ass’ Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg would become a catchphrase-touting machine. There was no denying the chemistry. Fans up and down the country would scream the New Age Outlaws intro as the familiar music hit. Six tag team championship reigns and a prominent role in D-Generation-X would follow.
Despite splits and years spent in TNA - where the pair openly mocked Vincent Kennedy McMahon as the ‘Voodoo Kin Mafia’ - The Chairman’s affection remains. James works for WWE as an agent and the Outlaws even received one last championship run in 2014.
Vince still believing the ageing unit had one last high profile match in them, paired the two with Kane to take on The Shield at WrestleMania XXX.
