10 WWE WrestleMania Moments That Meant NOTHING In Hindsight

2. Indecent Proposal

The announcement of John Cena and Nikki Bella's amicable separation rather fittingly split the wrestling audience between discerning disappointment for a love lost and downward-pointing eyebrows towards the predicted end of a public relations long game.

So much of their courtship being chronicled by E! Network vehicles Total Divas and Total Bellas provided windows to both worlds for crossover fans. Was the heft of the heart between Nikki and John subject to a scriptwriter's pen all along, just as so many of the short-term conflicts and arcs are on the shows themselves? Or were they real lovers trapped in a project now ultimately also destined to detail their demise?

Either way, WrestleMania 33 was the stage set for Part One of their season finale. Nikki Bella clearly isn't as stupid as Maryse magnificently portrayed her as during the caustic build-up to 2017's mixed tag battle, but daring to suggest she had no idea 'Big Match John' intended to pop the question afterwards was either entirely dimwitted or real-life 'Total Bella Bullsh*t'.

This unexpected plot twist may yet not be the final destination for their fleeting romance, but thank goodness Daniel Bryan is back to say 'YES!' again considering how useless this footage has already become.
