10 WWE Wrestlers Who Are Having A Very, Very Bad 2021
2. Drew McIntyre
It is difficult not to feel immense levels of sympathy for Drew McIntyre. 2020 was supposed to be his year and it was, in a lot of ways, but it was a career achievement that played out in front of empty crowds. Of course, every single wrestler was operating under the same frustrating cloud, but few were robbed of as monumental an achievement as Drew McIntyre. The Scot obliterated Brock Lesnar and become WWE Champion in the main event of WrestleMania, living the dreams of millions of fans around the world. That he didn't get to do that in front of tens of thousands of fans is a real shame.
2021 couldn't have started worse for McIntyre. Well, it started okay when he defeated 54-year-old Goldberg at the Royal Rumble but it has all been downhill from there. Does it get more downhill than 'defeated by The Miz for the WWE Championship'? Not really, but Drew then had to see Lashley win that very same title from the weak champion. Oh, and Sheamus decided he didn't want to be Drew's friend anymore.
Fast forward to WrestleMania 37. McIntyre had made no secret of his desire to open the show and he got to do just that, although not before a storm took much of the life out of the crowd. To compound the frustration, Drew lost relatively clean to Lashley in the opening match of the show.
The former two-time WWE Champion has a chance to turn this big handsome ship around at WrestleMania Backlash, but the damage may already be done.
