10 WWE Wrestlers Who The Fans Truly Hated

8. Shawn Michaels

One of the greatest ever to step in a ring, a prodigious talent who learned from his mistakes and grew over the course of his career, who never stopped putting on sensational matches - everyone, surely, loves Shawn Michaels. Yes, he was a politicker in his day, but he changed his ways, came back better than ever, and redeemed himself to the WWE universe.

Except, of course, in Canada. Shawn Michaels will forever be public enemy number one in the Great White North, thanks to his rivalry with their beloved Bret Hart, and more specifically his role in the Montreal Screwjob.

Michaels could expect a vicious reaction every time he crossed the border, no matter the quality of his matches. Not a man short on confidence, he would roll with this and even milk it, using the antipathy of the crowd to fire up an incendiary promo in which he teased Bret Hart’s return, playing the Hitman’s music to a rapturous response before revealing it was just a fake out.

Hart and Michaels may have buried the hatchet, but Bret’s acolytes in his home country are not so forgiving of HBK, Canadian persona non grata for life.
