Here's some more shots of the DragonCon gear that debuted last week! Thanks everybody for all the kind words on this set over the long weekend. It's one of my favorites and I'm really happy we were able to do the con justice! ☺️☺️ . . . . #kofimania #kofikingston #bige #xavierwoods #thenewday #wwechampion #wweraw #smackdownlive #sdlive #instaartist #costumedesign #ringgear #maineventgear #wwe #dragoncon

This is a doozy.

Famed for their fabulous attires time after time after time after time, The New Day were sporting yet another sublime Jonathan Davenport creation (and we heartily recommend checking out his Instagram for even more sketches and designs like these), with yet another lovely backstory that only a very specific few would likely be able to spot.

Jonathan himself confirmed for us that all three members are wearing designs based on the old carpet of the Marriott Hotel that has become a staple amongst the cosplaying community for in the many years the destination has hosted mammoth multi-media and pop culture event DragonCon - an event Woods attended this year in full IIconics gear alongside cosplaying friend Mikal Mosley.

The carpet - affectionately nicknamed "trashy" - has since been replaced by a contemporary effort few regulars have ever really accepted, creating a culture of cosplay around the flooring specifically. Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E's excellent takes on it will surely be celebrated within that community as the most high profile in its bizarrely rich history.

As a final nod to yet another legendary bit of New Day clobber, it appears as though the base colours away from the carpet pattern (Blue for Kingston, Orange for Woods, Red for E) mirror the trio's character selections from their SummerSlam 2018 Sonic The Hedgehog-inspired attire.
