Once again, Steph appeared to be sacrificing a potential star, all in the hope of making her boyfriend more over. You might say that she was a mark for Triple H. Sensing this, Jericho didn't have a whole lot of love for Stephanie circa 2001-2002. Despite being Champion and managed by her on television, he was literally made to be her lackey on Raw - he was even made to walk her dog on one occasion. Booking like this basically ruined Jericho's reign and made him a joke as a champ. It would be years before he would be trusted with the belt again.
