11 Things We Learned From Triple H On Cody Rhodes' Podcast
8. Why He Enjoyed A Plane Chat With Cody
Early in the interview, Rhodes brought up flying on the private jet with Hunter after he’d been bloodied up on an episode of TV. He asked Trips if it was alright and the boss man said yes, so people on the plane left the seat next to him free. Throughout the flight, they just chatted about wrestling, and Hunter liked that there was no agenda to it.
As the relatively new WWE figurehead, he’s aware that most conversations he has with talent have some purpose, whether that’s politicking or just trying to find out stuff about upcoming creative. He rarely gets to “just bulls*** about wrestling”, so he liked that there were no distractions on the plane.
It only happened because Cody didn’t want to get on a commercial flight all banged up and alarm other people.
Hunter: “I’m still just the kid sitting on my couch watching wrestling on a Saturday morning. Like, I love this and I love every aspect of it”. He appreciated the rare chance to simply talk, because part of him misses being on the road as talent as well. That's something he says will never leave him no matter what position he holds in the industry going forwards.
Towards the end of the pod, Triple H put Cody over as a true student of the game (so to speak) who pays close attention to even the smallest details. That'll stand him in good stead once he eventually hangs up the tights for good himself. Was...was this a preview of what's coming in the next few years?
