In 2006, TNA signed Jake Roberts to appear at Bound for Glory, their biggest show of the year to referee a Monsters Ball match. At the time, you just wanted something, anything for Roberts to work out. TNA was not the answer. His first night in, he cut a lengthy promo that was so wildly rambling, and so hard to hear that it had to be cut down to mere seconds. According to former TNA employee Bill Behrens, Roberts was coked out of his mind that night. Could TNA even trust Roberts to count to three? Somehow, Roberts made it to Bound for Glory, and didnt even bother to wear a referees shirt. Well, at least he remembered to wear pants. Thankfully, the match ended up being not so embarrassing for him. However, that was it for him in the company for quite some time. You can imagine had he been able to stay clean he could have potentially had a regular role. It wasnt until two years later that Roberts would show up again for just one more night. He was a groomsman in Jay Lethals wedding to So Cal Val. Yep, random and pointless. It was more sad than anything, as he was there with more comedic wrestlers like Kamala and George The Animal Steele in a ridiculous wedding angle. While Roberts may be a legend, his TNA was incredibly forgettable. Actually, it would be surprising if even he remembered it.
