11 WWE WrestleMania Headliners Who Didn't Make The Following SummerSlam

5. Triple H - WrestleMania 21

WrestleMania 21 was another monumental event in the history of the company, as two new faces rose to the top of the company. John Cena won his first World Championship that night, defeating John 'Bradshaw' Layfield in under 10 minutes for the WWE Championship. This match didn't get top billing however, an honour that went to Batista and Triple H as the former defeated his former Evolution buddy for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The Batista/Triple H feud would continue after Mania, going all the way until Vengeance where the Animal won a great Hell in a Cell match against his former mentor. He subsequently defended the strap against JBL in a No Holds Barred bout at SummerSlam 2005.

By this time, Triple H was three months into what would become a five month hiatus to deal with minor neck problems and freshen up his character, which had been overexposed. After missing SummerSlam, Hunter returned to WWE in October that year, sparking off a feud with fellow Evolution member Ric Flair.
