Captain Lou Albano actually served as NRBQ’s manager for a number of years in the 1980s, and even released a truly weird collaboration album with the power-pop collective in 1986, entitled Lou and the Q.

Originally released as a single in 1982, Captain Lou is a sugary (and slightly worrying) tribute to the band’s friend and manager, with Lou providing two trademark rants to book-end the track.

“Often imitated, never duplicated", Captain Lou will be remembered for his eccentric personality, Hawaiian shirts, and for kickstarting one of the 20th centuries greatest fashion trends: wearing rubber bands on your facial hair for absolutely no reason. This song is just another addition to Albano’s weird, wonderful legacy.
