7. Undertaker Burns Paul Bearer In April, Gives Bearer The Impetus To Release Kane In October
Paul Bearer had a hell of a sh*tkicking coming his way by the time the new WWE Champion sought revenge at the very supershow that promised exactly that. But In Your House: Revenge Of The Taker didn't turn out to be the place where The Undertaker finally gained a measure of comeuppance against his evil ex-associate and longstanding opponent Mankind - it instead informed the origin story of a rival that would dominate the rest of his career.
Having downed the 'Deranged One', The Undertaker made the best of a botched spot in an attempt to gain retribution for Bearer and Mankind doing the exact same thing to him weeks earlier. He'd felt the "fire in the eyes" weeks earlier, but gave as good as he got when he managed to get to 'Uncle Paul'.
Blasting a fireball from close range in his face, the Champion thought he'd ridden himself of the problem once and for all but the presence of the flames brought back memories for the mortician that sent him all the way back to Death Valley. Unleashing 'Taker's brother Kane months later, the scorched flesh PTSD suffered by Bearer remained the motivation for an act of unthinkable devastation.
