12. This Shocking Story About His Mother

You will not believe some of the stories told about Paul's formative years.

One of his sons Travis says he heard that his dad worked a job and came home with a bundle of money. When his mother asked for the cash, Paul said no, so “she knocked him out with a cast iron skillet and took the money”. What?! VICE’s producers couldn’t believe what they were hearing and asked, “His own mother?!”. “Yes”, replied Travis.

Think about that for a second. Orndorff worked his butt off to earn some cash, came home with it and his own mother knocked him goofy with a skillet to take the funds for herself. How could anybody even live under the same roof as someone capable of doing that? It's insane.

Also, Paul grew up grew up in what was essentially a "converted chicken coop". His dad was a butcher. On the general family dynamic back then, Travis says: “Modest would be an upgrade. They were poor”. Ex-WWE star (of Killer Bees tag-team fame) B. Brian Blair recalls Orndorff’s dad saying he did the best he could for the family.

He was the one who'd changed the chicken coop into a trailer so the family could live in it and had some sort of shelter. So, to recap, 'Mr. Wonderful' grew up in a place previously used to house chickens, then one of his parents cracked him on the head and stole money from him after a job well done.

No wonder the guy had anger issues.
