If you're also thinking that this re-branding of Stephanie as a performer would keep her safe from abuse, that's where you're wrong. On the Halloween 2002 episode of Smackdown, Raw GM (and Stephanie's on-screen competitor) Eric Bischoff forcibly kissed Stephanie while wearing a mask and costume to make him appear to be Vince McMahon. Oedipus, much? That level of storyline psychological abuse is definitely crossing (many) lines.
