4 - Two Important Victories
In what was a good if not outstanding affair, Private Party defeated the Dark Order to advance to the three-way World Tag Team Championship match at Full Gear.
A Private Party match that even Jim Ross seemed to enjoy, the Order’s rule-breaking here felt more like heel work than residual Indy self-indulgence. They lingered in the ring (just) too long on the heat, to get the crowd behind the babyfaces, not that they needed the assist: the audacious booking of the act, and the exhilarating performances of the talent, have converged to get them over in less than two months.
Rough in places, this was to be expected: the act is still green, and here, they attempted to transition to a more traditional style.
It was the correct result, one consistent with the various threads plotted in the tournament: the three standout teams, in performance and in the story, are now set for Full Gear.
It was the most lowkey of triumphs for Evil Uno and Stu Grayson, too: they didn’t receive a monster reaction, but fans are slowly accepting that they can deliver a good match to the point that they react, a bit, from the jump.
