Nearly everyone can agree that having the Miz main event WrestleMania XXVII was a mistake. But anyone who has been paying attention to Miz for the past year knows that he has been a huge boon to the midcard on SmackDown and Raw.
Miz and wife Maryse did an uncanny portrayal of John Cena and Nikki Bella, earning praise from critics for it and giving some heat to an otherwise space-filler of a WrestleMania match. The Awesome One’s promos were almost always on-point, and his Miz TV segments were typically noteworthy. A six-month Intercontinental Championship reign and his own Miztourage helped bolster Miz’s standing.
While Miz really won’t ever be taken seriously as a threat to a world title, he is a firm fixture just below that level, and you need guys like that flourishing to keep the program interesting.
